Cyprus! Who turned you upside down?! In theory, you are Europe and one of the soft rocking cradles of rugged street skating spots in the south of it. But on arrival you welcome us with: driving on the left hand side! Seems it was the fault of the British – again?!
Apart from that we indeed rocked back and forth on this beautiful island, from Limassol to Larnaka, from Paphos to Nikosia and back again. All day every day for as long as daylight lasted. Which is a tough job to manage on a skate tour, when daylight only lasts from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. But we skipped (most of) the usual Ouzo-drinking-games and chilled at night, just like the millions (Literally? Literally!!) of street cats that hang around every restaurant.
So early starts became our routine. And night sessions with Lennie Burmeister our bedtime cookie, as he joined us surprisingly for 5 days and defined “Powerhouse” in ways unheard of. Lennie is spelled:
For street skaters used to hassling with securities and whatnot, Cyprus is heaven. Everyone goes their own way or even wants pictures taken with you after that one rad trick. Feels like heaven.
A piece of advice for life from the Clepto Crew?! Just stay away from cheap gambling stations at the airport. You never win. Never!
